About the Program

Cars for Cats was founded in 2009 by Purple Wave Auction and KansasStateCars.com to generate additional support for K-State. The program enables K-State alumni and friends to use Purple Wave Auction — at no cost — to sell your vehicle and easily donate the sale’s bid price to the K-State fund of your choice through the KSU Foundation.

Auction Services

Purple Wave Auction offers an extensive online auction service and auction locations across several states. The company’s robust auction services give you the optimal opportunity to expose your vehicle to prospective buyers and obtain a fair market value.

An auction specialist will assist you with preparing your vehicle’s photos and description to optimize its potential selling price on the auction block.

Purple Wave Auction waives all seller commission fees for the automobiles auctioned through the Cars for Cats program. This allows you to distribute the full amount of the vehicle sale’s bid price to K-State through the KSU Foundation without any out-of-pocket expenses or reduction to the donation.

Receipting and Fund Designation

The KSU Foundation will issue you a receipt for your donation. As the seller, you may deduct the bid price of the vehicle sale as a charitable donation on your income taxes.

In addition, you may designate any college or program at K-State to receive your funds. Your contribution will help continue the tradition of excellence in student success, faculty development and the learning environment.
